Task analysis observes what a user is required to do in terms of actions and cognitive processes to achieve a task (the user’s goal). The graphical representation of the task (from notes taken during the observation of a user) establishes the user activities and behavior.

Conducted to understand a current system that a user interacts with and the information flow within it. At this stage it will always be observing the current setting for the user to achieve their tasks, either in an offline setting or within the existing website.

It allows the discovery of the type of tasks your website must support and the scope of content. It helps refine or redefine the navigation or search to make sure the site is efficient, effective, and satisfying to users.
